South Korean chemicals company Hyosung Vina Chemicals has invested $1.3 billion to establish a polypropylene (PP) plant and a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) storage cavern at the Cai Mep Industrial Park in the province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau in Vietnam. The project was approved by Vietnam’s PM back in 2018 and construction of the plant began in the same year.

PP produced in the plant will be used for manufacturing a number of products including textiles in Vietnam. It will be capable of churning out 650,000 tonnes of PP each year at full capacity, out of which 300,000 tonnes will be supplied to the Vietnamese market.

The plant is likely to generate jobs for over 400 labourers, according to Vietnamese media reports.
